When the words were whispered from my lips that I could not see anything, the world quit spinning. It was not supposed to happen like this. I was having surgery to save my life, to better my life, not this. But in fact, it was this. I was blind.
Perhaps all along, from the time I was born, it was in God’s plan for this to happen, for me to become blind. Throughout my childhood, God’s hands were at work, constantly working, continually molding me into a person who could handle it. He made me the person I am because he knew that I would fight through the sadness, wipe away the tears, and do it all by giving him all the glory. He knew that I would be a better man, serving a greater purpose in this life without my sight than with it.
The greatest gift anyone can receive is to find peace and purpose hidden inside the hardest thing they have been through. What should have derailed my momentum instead catalyzed my growth into a role that allows me to both inspire and empower others to never give up on life, even when it may feel like life is giving up on them.
