SPEAKER_00: What if the way in which you brushed your teeth this morning?

The way in which you showed up to that workout that you didn't want to go to, the way in which you walked into work, what if that was representative of the way you show up to everything in life?

I know it sounds a little dramatic to compare seemingly mindless activities like brushing your teeth to that of how you show up for your family, for your work, for the things you love, but maybe it is.

Because there's been this one little thing that's been stuck in my head and it's been changing the game for me.

What if the way I show up for one thing is how I show up for everything?

And my friend, I can't help but think that maybe it could be the game changer for you as well.

And with that, my friend, it's on with today's episode.

I hope you enjoy.

Yeah, I got great grace and inspiration on my mind.

The topic for today's episode, it came directly from my own personal life.

Because here lately, I've been really trying to get specific, to get devoted about improving my own personal health, my physical health, my mental health, focusing on the same stuff that I talk about here on the podcast.

And in doing so, I've been reminded of this saying, this little idea of how we do one thing is how we do everything.

And so, sure enough, it's really been an amazing motivational boost for me.

Because every time I sit down and I start to do something, it can be anything from jumping on the new underdesk elliptical I got.

We can work on the computer while working out.

It is absolutely amazing.

Highly recommend.

But whether it's that or it's making my bed or it's folding laundry, doing dishes, brushing my teeth, I've been reminded of this little saying how I do one thing is how I do everything.

So when I'm tempted to cut corners, when I'm tempted to not do my full hour on the elliptical, I'm thinking, ah, you know what?

45 minutes, that's good enough.

Or maybe it's making the bed and deciding, you know what, we're just gonna cut some corners today.

We're not gonna actually be sure the sheet is tucked in on the corners.

We're just gonna throw it on and let it go.

No, because how I do one thing is how I do everything.

And if we start our day with this mindset of showing up to everything at our best, then I believe it means that we're showing up to the world as our best.

And I don't know about you, but that's how I want to live.

And I guess maybe more importantly, that's what I want to be known for.

Now, I'm gonna give you some practical applications and dive a little bit deeper, but I guess I first want to make one quick disclosure.

This doesn't mean that this is how life goes every day.

Matter of fact, I'm recording today's episode.

And yeah, I don't think I took the time to be sure the bed was perfectly made.

It was more one of those mornings where you just throw it on, have it looking presentable, and you go on about your day.

So I'm not talking about perfection all the time.

I'm just talking about us doing our best when we can.

Because remember, it's life and life is messy.

It's crazy.

Rarely ever do things go the way we hope.

But we just have to do what we can.

And when we have the opportunity to take things to the next level, to be sure that we are doing our absolute best, then why don't we do it?

Again, it doesn't have to be all the time.

But when we have the opportunity, when we feel good enough to do so, let's do it.

Let's go the extra mile and see what it can do for us.

To help this hit a little bit closer to home, here are a few true scenarios, some life applications for how this applies to everyday life.

I want you to think about these scenarios and determine which one, if not all of them, apply to you.

The way that you show up to the gym, or maybe don't show up, what if that same level of commitment is how you show up to your relationships?

It's the way that you're showing up to your marriage, to your friendships, to the relationships you have with your colleagues at work.

And are those relationships benefiting from the way you're showing up or not?

You know the truth.

You know if you're giving it your all or not.

So think about it.

What if the way in which you're going to the gym or not going to the gym, or you go to the gym but you don't really work out, you more just kind of socialize?

What if that's then being reflected in the way you show up to the other commitments that you have throughout the day?

When you're at work and you have a task to complete, are you always cutting corners?

Are you always looking for shortcuts?

Are you always making excuses for why you don't have to do it exactly right?

If so, then you have to look at other aspects of life.

Where else are you cutting corners?

Is it your dreams, your goals?

Are you cutting corners on those?

Are you making excuses why you can't achieve them?

Again, the way we do one thing, it's the way we do everything.

Here's the thing: the way we show up, if you start showing up as your best, if you start being excited, enthusiastic, really compelled and motivated to show up in life in one aspect, it's gonna be carried over to others as well.

It's like this chain reaction, it's like a domino effect.

It just happens.

The positive energy, the positive vibes, they radiate around you.

They start impacting even those around you.

By you showing up to your best in one aspect, before you know it, your entire world can change.

The truth here is simple.

You can't just put yourself in a box.

Who you are at work should not be different from the person you are at home.

If you are somebody who really excels at work, you get all of your stuff done, you do what you need to, you be sure that every single thing is accounted for.

You excel, you're getting employee of the month.

And yet at home, you're a different person.

You're letting the house go, you're not cleaning, you're not doing the laundry, you're not keeping up with your home to the way that you're proud of.

Well, maybe that means that you got to have a mindset shift.

That if I'm showing up to work as my best, well, let me show up to my life as my best.

Which honestly, I mean, you could say that that's even more important than work.

It's showing up to you, for you, for your family, as your best.

Now remember, this isn't about being perfect.

I get it.

Like I said, it's life.

But it's more about showing up for us, about being disciplined, about having the courage, the enthusiasm to want to make life better for us.

Life isn't easy, it's hard, it's a challenge.

I get it.

But if we're not willing to go all in for us, then what are we doing?

What am I doing?

What are you doing?

If you're not willing to wake up tomorrow morning and give it your best shot because you know in the end it's gonna be better for you, then my friend, what is any of it worth?

And remember, it starts with the little things.

It starts with the way you wake up in the morning, the way in which you greet the day, that represents everything.

So I'm not asking you to make big dramatic changes in your life.

No, ain't nobody got the energy for that.

What I'm asking you to do is to show up with intention, to show up with integrity, to show up as you, as your true, authentic best self in every aspect of life, from getting dressed in the morning to brushing your teeth to walking in the door at work, walk in with a smile, your head held high, your shoulders back.

Because why?

Because the way you show up, the way you do one thing is the way you do everything.

And my friend, as I said, when you carry this type of energy, when you show this level of enthusiasm for life, I'm telling you, the impact is monumental.

It's gonna radiate around you because it's gonna make others in your family, at your workplace, start wanting to be better themselves.

So here's my challenge for you today is I want you to think of one thing that you typically rush through, you cut corners on, you don't give much mind, you don't pay much attention to, you just do it.

It's part of your normal everyday routine.

I now want you to do it like it matters, to show up fully.

So whether it's the way in which you make your bed, it's the way in which you greet your spouse in the morning, it's the way in which you pack your lunch for work, I want you to show up with intention.

I want you to give it your all.

I want you to pay attention, and I want you to remind yourself when you start to cut corners, when you start to do it the sloppy way, the easy way, the lazy way, I want you to say to yourself, the way I do one thing is the way I do everything.

That right there is a hit to the gut when you are cutting corners.

My friend, it is a gut check that we all need to be reminded of, to remind ourselves, the way I do one thing is the way I do everything.

So, my friend, I leave you with this last little bit of encouragement.

You can't build a life that you're proud of by half showing up.

And at the same point, you can become the person you want to be if your character changes on the setting.

If you're a different person at home than you are at work, if you show up and give it your all at work, but then you come home and you do nothing, you don't give it your all, my friend, you got to make some changes.

Again, I want you to show up in all aspects of life, giving it your best.

Now, like I said, I'm all about giving yourself a break, cutting yourself some slack, give yourself some grace.

But there's also a time for us all to be our own coach, to encourage ourselves, to push ourselves a little bit more, to do better, to be our best, to show up in every aspect of life, from the little things to the big things in our best possible way.

My friend, I'm your host, Kevin Lowe.

I hope today's episode encouraged you, motivated you, inspired you to start showing up to life from brushing your teeth to showing up at work as your best self possible.

Because remember, the way you do one thing is the way you do everything.

I got grid grace and inspiration on my mind.
