SPEAKER_00: Inside of today's episode, we are tackling a big question.
And that is, are you living in alignment with your life's purpose?
Now, we talk a lot about finding your life's purpose on this podcast.
Matter of fact, I've spent the pretty much the first month of 2024 diving deep into it.
Because, well, I believe at the core, finding our life's purpose is indeed one of the most important and vital things that any of us can do.

And if you even want to go even deeper, well, you can text the word discover to 55444, and I'll get you more information into how I can help you to once and for all discover your purpose.
But today we're taking it a step further.
Because discovering your purpose is one thing, but living in alignment with that purpose is a whole nother thing.
And that's what we're diving into inside of today's episode.
So if you want to figure out what I'm even talking about, what it means to be living in alignment with your purpose, how to do it, what it looks like, well, stay tuned.
Welcome to episode 261.
What's up, my friend, and welcome to Grit Grace and Inspiration.
I'm your host, Kevin Lowe.
Twenty years ago, I awoke from a life-saving surgery only to find that I was left completely blind.
And since that day, I've learned a lot about life, a lot about living, and a lot about myself.
And here on this podcast, I want to share those insights with you.
Because, friend, if you are still searching for your purpose, still trying to understand why, or still left searching for that next right path to take, well, consider this to be your stepping stone to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
Today's topic was brought up by our guest inside of episode 260.
That was Dr.
G.
And during our conversation, it was just one little thing he said, one thought, one single question that he posed, and it stuck with me.
And that was, of course, are you living in alignment with your purpose?
And I don't know why it stuck with me, other than the fact that I talk about finding your purpose so much on this podcast.
And I felt like, oh my gosh, I feel like I've been leaving something out.
I've been failing my audience.
I've been failing you.
Because finding your purpose is one thing.
Even designing your life around that purpose is another thing.
But to actually be living in alignment with that purpose, oh man, we're talking about a game changer.
So that's why today I felt like we needed to finally grab the bull by the horns and ride this thing for everything it's worth.
So let's dive in.
Are you living in alignment with your purpose?
So the first question you have is, okay, Kev, what does it mean?
What are you talking about when you say, are you living in alignment with your purpose?
Well, to be honest, it's every action you take, it's every thought you have.
It's every day when you wake up and the first thought you have in your mind.
It's how you live your life.
Because if you've already discovered your life's purpose, well, I believe that that is your North Star.
That is where everything should be headed.
And so the question is are the actions you take getting you closer to living in alignment with your purpose or not?
Because you're either living in alignment with that purpose or you're not living in alignment.
And to be quite honest, if you're not living in alignment with your purpose, well, that might be why you're in a situation that has you feeling unfulfilled at the end of the day.
Because when you start living out your life's purpose, living in alignment, well, that's when Monday morning is as exciting as Friday morning.
Because you look forward to what you're doing that day, because you know that the actions you're taking aren't for nothing.
Everything serves a purpose.
And it all brings you immense joy and pleasure.
So the next question you ask is well, how do I know if I am living in alignment with my purpose?
Well, to be honest, it's kind of simple, but yet it's rather complex.
Because I'd love to give you just a list to check off.
Yep, check, check, check.
I'm living in alignment or I'm not.
But it's deeper than that.
Because it's deeper than a feeling.
It's a sense down deep in your soul that indeed you are headed in the right direction.
Remember, your life's purpose, it's a part of you.
It's who you are.
And only you, down deep in your soul, know if you are or are not headed in the right direction.
It's your own internal compass.
And only you know if you're off course or on.
One way to think about it is everything that you do today, your goals, your plans, are they just tasks?
Or do they mean more than that?
Do they feel like they mean something?
Does everything you do feel like it's serving a greater good for you or for the world?
That's probably a really good sign that you're in alignment with your purpose.
It's that sense down deep in your soul.
You gotta listen to yourself.
Because quite honestly, it's trying to tell you whether you're in alignment or not.
So let's talk about it.
How do we get to a state where we are living in alignment with our purpose?
Well, first and foremost, you got to figure out what your purpose even is.
If you've not put in the work to really dig deep and discover what your purpose is, well, then you don't even know where you're headed.
So, first and foremost, start with that.
And remember, I would love to help you if you just text the word discover to 5544.
I can get you more information into how I can help you to discover your purpose.
So that's step number one.
That is crucial.
But when we talk about living in alignment, it's not just about being self-aware.
It's it's beyond knowing your purpose.
Because once you know your purpose, then we have to figure out how you live in alignment with that purpose.
Because this is about you being brave enough to make changes to get you towards your life's purpose.
Because, quite honestly, if you figure out your purpose in life, it may mean that you got to make some big changes.
Are you willing to make those changes?
Are you willing to put in the work to do the stuff that scares you, to do the stuff that on paper doesn't make sense?
But yet we know that this is deeper than that.
Because your life, quite honestly, probably doesn't make sense on paper.
But that's where I'm talking about.
It's deeper than that.
I'm talking to you who feel like you're made for more.
You feel like you're not in the right place in your life right now.
You feel like there's got to be more out there than this.
Well, you got to be willing to be brave enough, courageous enough to take action, to do the things that lead you in that direction.
Another aspect of how you do this is getting real.
Because let's be honest, when we talk about our life's purpose, we talk about living in alignment with that purpose, it kind of feels a little fluffy because life is a crazy mess most of the time.
And so I encourage you to let me be a reminder that sometimes you got to ground yourself.
You got to just take a pause, you got to take a break to get back down to you into the bigger picture.
Because it's so easy to get caught up in the everyday monotony where one day blends into another.
Before you know it, the week's gone, another month ticked off of the calendar.
And gosh, before you know it, it's January 1st, and you have no idea where the last year went.
So, what I'm saying is sometimes you gotta just put a pause in life.
I think back to one of my favorite shows when I was a kid growing up in the 90s that was Saved by the Bell.
And I can remember, and you remember, if you watch Saved by the Bell, that in the midst of the show happening, all of a sudden, everything would pause.
And the lead character, Zach, would start talking to himself.
That's what I want you to do.
Think of Saved by the Bell.
Hit the pause button and think to yourself.
What's happening in life right now?
How can I change course?
Do I need to change course?
Reevaluate everything that's happening in your life and figure out how I can make it better?
How can I be true to myself?
How can I maintain my values?
How can I course correct to be sure that I am headed in the direction of living out my life's purpose?
Sometimes it's easier to get outside, to go for a walk by yourself, to get out in nature, find a park, and just take a walk.
Don't put in your earbuds, don't listen to music, just be with you in nature, listening to the birds, feeling the wind hit your face, seeing the blue sunny sky, and just be with you.
A lot of times we live in such a noisy world that we forget what it's like to just be quiet.
Try it sometime to just be quiet, to not turn the TV on, to not turn music on, to not start scrolling through Facebook.
Instead, just be.
You'll probably realize that it's way more beneficial to your mental health than you ever realized.
So as I end today's episode, I want you to ask yourself: are the choices I'm making today in alignment with my true north, with who I am, who I want to be, with what my life's purpose is?
Another question to ask is just what's one step I can take to get me moving closer in the direction I want to go, to have me better aligned with my purpose.
You don't always have to take massive action.
Sometimes all it takes is just one little change each day.
And all that does is multiply.
And by the end of the year, gosh, you've made some massive changes in your life just by changing one little thing.
Remember this the journey to living a purpose-driven life, it's a journey.
So take it one day at a time, but realize this that if you never start thinking about it, well, then nothing is going to change.
I want you to have the life of your dreams.
I want you to wake up on Monday morning as excited as you are on Friday morning.
Because what you're doing today matters.
It makes a difference in the world.
It makes a difference to you.
That's what I'm talking about when I ask, are you living in alignment with your purpose?
