SPEAKER_03: I mean, because I could sit here and feel sorry for myself.
That's so easy to do.
As you know, it's so easy to do.
But if I would have done that, I wouldn't have been in a very good place all this time.
SPEAKER_01: Yep.

Yep.
SPEAKER_03: So I'm just taking the punches as they come, kind of swerving and swerving, weaving and bobbing, but just kind of leaning on that bait and just keep telling myself, it's gonna get better.
This is just a bump in the road.
SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Grit, Great, and Insights.
I'm your host, Kevin Lowe, and I'm excited to welcome you inside.
This is the kind of place where your glass will never be anything other than half full.
Because we choose to focus on the positive type of life.
Now this doesn't mean that we shy away from the real talk.
No, not fair.
As a matter of fact, we explore all aspects of life.
From the good, the bad, and the ugly.
But all of that is done with one purpose.
Inspire you to never give up on life.
Even when it makes seem like life has given up on you.
Now I get it.
Life is hard.
Starting today, we've got grit, grace, and inspiration.
What's going on and welcome back to Grit Grace and Inspiration.
I am your host, Kevin Low, and well hey, welcome back to the show.
Today is episode number 155, in which we are sitting down for one of these new life roadmap coaching calls.
I don't know if you're somebody who likes to set off on a road trip with no map, no directions, no GPS, and just like to kind of wing it.
Well, that's cool for a road trip, but not so cool when we're talking about life.
And that's why I have designed this very type of episode where I'm sitting down with somebody just like you to help them map out their life's roadmap, helping them get from where they are today, overcome some obstacles, and get them to where they want to be.
Today we're doing that with a lady named Tabby.
Now, Tabby has kind of changed the game on this life roadmap strategy session because she's taking us off-road.
Because Tabby is a Jeep enthusiast who would rather be on a trail off-roading with her ladies' jeep club than she would on the highway taking a road trip.
So today we'll consider this to be a life roadmap off-road edition.
As you will hear when you dive into today's episode, is that Tabby has experienced some physical health problems that have really impacted her life.
Now, the thing is, is that when we talk about our health, we generally divide it in half.
We talk about our physical health or our mental health.
Well, the fact is, is that they're both connected.
They're both our health.
And so when one is out of whack, it affects the other.
When our mental health isn't in check, we tend to not focus so much on our physical health.
When something's wrong with our physical health, it tends to affect our mental health.
I know this to be true in my own life.
Now, I mention this because we have to overcome both of them.
If one is out of whack, we got to get it in check.
And that in turn will help us be sure that the other follows suit.
My goal with Tabby today is to help her get both in check.
Now, lucky for me, she made my life pretty easy because Tabby is pretty much devoted, pretty much on par with where she is and where she wants to go and what she's got to do to get there.
But even the best athletes can use a coach every now and then.
And so that's what I'm here to do with Tabby today is to walk her through this life roadmap and hopefully get her to the goal that she wants to be, and hopefully be there to help her get to the finish line.
Now remember, you can be in this same driver's seat.
So I want you to consider it.
Listen to today's episode if you must, and then head on over to workwithkevan.coach.
That is literally just workwithkevin.coach.
And you can sign up for your own life roadmap.
It's literally a free coaching session with me to look at where you're at in life, where you want to go, what obstacles are in the way, and let's figure out a roadmap that is going to help you overcoming those challenges in life and getting to where you want it to be.
So head on over to workwithheaven.com.
Easy and again, you want to see what I'm talking about?
Well, you're in the right place.
So buckle up that seat belt, press that foot on the gas, and let's get going on today's life roadmap strategy set.
I first and foremost just kind of want to get started by you kind of giving me a general overview, kind of a snapshot on life, you know, right now.
Just kind of give me, help me get a better understanding of where you're at right now, and uh, we'll kind of go from there.
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
Well, right now, I call this phase of my life the rebuilding phase.
I had a very, I wouldn't call it freak, but a very peculiar incident happened to me last year and medical-wise, and it had me on the sidelines for now eight months.
So I was out of work, was not mobile, I had to have two surgeries, and I'm just ready to get over this hump.
So I am in my rebuilding phase of life.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
Wow, wow.
So that is so tough.
So eight months you've been dealing with this.
SPEAKER_03: Yes, and currently still dealing with it.
I'm still going to the wound care specialist to finalize my wound healing.
So I'm praying this new year will get me healed and back onto my all my fun adventures.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
Okay.
So we've got this idea of this kind of starting point, which really kind of summarizes what you've been going through.
And so how has this kind of impacted your life as far as just personal life, work life?
How has that impact been?
SPEAKER_03: Well, when this happened, I was out of work for six months.
I started the first of the year.
I worked at January, February, March, April, the end of April, and May, I was out of commission, May, June, July, August, September, October, and finally went to back to work at the beginning of November.
So it basically put me into like this little tailspin of, oh my God, what is my life going to be after this?
Because, you know, I was a very active, I was on the go.
I have a Jeep.
We do trail rides.
You know, we're constantly on the go.
And now it's kind of like everything just wowed up, and here I am immobile for this period of time.
So it was pretty it was pretty challenging.
But I'm just glad that I had home health care.
My nurses were very great.
They helped me to show me how to, you know, change, clean my wound, do my bandages, stuff like that once I had my surgery, because I had a very big hole in my leg.
I had a hole probably three inches around in my lower left leg.
So it was very challenging.
SPEAKER_00: Wow.
Wow, wow, wow.
Yeah.
I mean, to say the least.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah.
So, okay, so but but you're getting better now.
Physically, you're you are improving.
SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
My wound has healed.
I had to do a skin graft surgery in in, let's see, I had my surgery in July.
My skin graft surgery was in September, and my skin graft has already healed.
It's just my wound on my bottom leg is almost there.
I'm still dealing with the wound care doctor, as I said, and still changing bandages.
But right now I'm trying to build up my muscles in my legs.
From when I sat so long, they were, I guess you call it muscle atrophy, where the muscles are kind of stagnant and not being used like they were before.
So I've been dealing with that and some edema on my legs.
So I'm kind of battling a couple things and trying to do some exercises and wear compression wraps and whatnot to get the edema going down.
But yeah, I'm hopeful and it's almost to the end.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
Well, well, that's amazing, amazing.
So, in regards to me and you talking today, let's look kind of down the line.
What do you hope to achieve?
Let's look at it, you know, as far as what do you want your life to look like?
Difference between where you are right now to where you want to be, let's say a year from now and then a five years from now.
SPEAKER_03: Well, let's see, a year from now.
Like I'm a weird person.
I kind of like set goals for myself six months out, a year out.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: So I mean, to know that I'm attaining my goals every six months.
So, like for this year, December, I was wanting to get back to work, be able to walk, you know, walk without, you know, unassisted, whatnot.
So I'm still kind of working on that phase.
So my six month out goal is to not walking assisted, not having the compression wrap on, having my muscles back to full strength.
So I'm really, really chowing down on those goals.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
SPEAKER_03: But a year out, I really just would like to be able to get back to how things were prior to the accident or to the incident, I shouldn't say, because it wasn't an accident, it was just a kind of a fruit thing, but just to where I'm I'm back to getting out, going out.
Because I've kind of made myself through this whole deal kind of like a homebody.
And I'm an outgoing, you know, I love talking to people, you know.
Unfortunately, that's my job, but I'm just like an outgoing person.
I have, you know, my personality is large.
Some people call me loud, but um, you know, I just want to get back to that.
And like I find myself that I've secluded myself because of this.
So that's my long-term year goal.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
SPEAKER_03: Hopefully, two years out, two years out, I will be hopefully starting my own podcast for Jeep Girls to gain confidence in learning about Jeeps, Jeep Life, you know, learning how to do stuff.
And that's my two-year-old goal.
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: So hopefully I can get there.
SPEAKER_00: Well, I love it.
Oh my goodness.
So, kind of backing up a little bit to talking about your physical health and the goals that you have set for that.
What will be happening in your life on the day that you realize, hey, I'm back to where I wanted to be?
SPEAKER_03: What will happen?
Holy Lord.
I'm gonna jump in my Jeep and I'm gonna jump in my Jeep.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, jump in the Jeep.
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna jump in the Jeep and hit the trails.
Because I'm like, I'm like a bird in a cage right now.
I'm like a caged animal ready to get back to life, you know?
And it's been hard because like just driving from where I live to work is a very short drive.
But like it hurts, it physically hurts sometimes.
Like when I come home, I have to kind of sit for a little while, muster up my strength, and then get out and come inside.
So it's, I mean, for the lack of a better term, it's been life-changing because life as I knew it before is now very different until you know this whole healing process is is over.
So I'm just ready to get back to going out, going places, traveling.
I'm ready to go to Tennessee.
I mean, I've got I've got bucket list items that I want to do this year that I'm gonna check off.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love it.
I love it.
Okay, so so we got to get you to that point where we can check those off.
So, in regards to today's call, us creating this roadmap for you, let's figure out what we've got to do to get you there.
So, you tell me, thinking about this big picture, let's narrow it down to three big picture items.
What are three things that have to get accomplished between right now and you taking that trip to Tennessee with the Jeep Club, living life like you want to be living it?
SPEAKER_03: Oh, definitely healing, planning, financial planning, getting that in line for the trip.
And also to just making sure I'm in a good mental head space for the trip, physically, you know, physically and mentally ready for the trip because that's a long drive in a Jeep.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
No kidding.
Yeah.
So, okay, so I like that.
So now break that down a little bit more in terms of what are some things that are going on that are gonna help you physically heal.
Like what's what's one thing that you know is top of mind that like you're gonna have to work on to be sure that that happens?
SPEAKER_03: Oh, definitely continue my healing process and my, I call it my my therapy, but it's you know, just a series of exercises to get my legs together.
So, because I know without my legs, it ain't it will not be beneficial for me to even take the trip because I have to be able to walk.
I have to be able to get in and out of vehicles with no discomfort.
So I know that my physical properties are really gonna have to be worked on, and I'm just gonna have to continue what I'm doing and walk more and just get that physicality back together.
unknown: Yeah.
SPEAKER_03: That's the one thing I think I'm most concerned about.
Everything else is just details, it's just the physicality of taking a trip, you know?
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, no, I understand completely.
So, okay, so we we we've got your your directions, we we understand what you gotta do to get there, which I think just listening to you talking with you today, I think to myself, Tabby's got it going on.
I mean, you've had an insane setback, and I know personally that when we have something physical that's holding us back, it can really mess with our mental game, also.
But you seem to be doing extraordinarily well, and I love the fact of how clear you are on your goals, on where you want to be.
You've got it nailed down six months, you know, year, you've got these big plans in place.
And so I look at you and I think, I think you're totally on the right path.
And I love it.
SPEAKER_03: Well, thank you.
Sometimes I feel like I'm not, but you know, I just it's been such a a long, strange trip with this.
That probably one thing, if I didn't lean on my faith as much as I did, I probably would have had some sort of breakdown.
But yeah, I mean, just taking that couple minutes and going, okay, Lord, what's next for me?
Just kind of kind of get you thinking and get your motivation going, because it's so easy to veer away from being positive and having a positive approach to things.
I mean, because I could sit here and feel sorry for myself.
That's so easy to do.
As you know, it's so easy to do.
But if I would have done that, I wouldn't have been in a very good place all this time.
SPEAKER_01: Yep.
SPEAKER_03: So I'm just taking the punches as they come, kind of swerving and swerving, weaving and bobbing, but just kind of leaning on that faith and just keep telling myself, it's gonna get better.
This is just a bump in the road.
You just have to keep moving forward.
SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
Exactly.
Right now, Tabby the Jeep is stuck in the mud and she's fighting and she's digging, she's switched it into four low, she's crawling out of the mud, and God's pulling her with the tow rope at the same time.
Is that what we're thinking?
Absolutely.
I love it, I love it.
So, so in regards to this whole kind of journey, I find that sometimes the things that propel us forward are the things that we're scared of happening.
Because as much as the things that we want to happen get us excited, the things that we don't want to happen are what ultimately propel us forward.
What is something when you're thinking about this journey ahead?
What are some roadblocks that you are scared of, that you're worried about, that you see that could potentially try to stand in your way?
SPEAKER_03: Definitely not being completely a hundred percent healed to where I don't have to wear these stinking old bandages over my wound.
I think that's my biggest fear because everything else, like I said, is just details.
It's just getting this wound healed.
And that's been my biggest fear throughout this whole thing because I've, like I said, I've always been the type of person that kind of just went out there and grabbed life by the horns and tried stuff.
And if I couldn't do it, I at least I tried.
And I said I that battle was won, and I tried something I couldn't do, and it's just this wound is basically, I feel is my biggest roadblock.
Because everything else, I can just get the winch out and and move it out of the way.
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
Well, I mean, I look at it and I'm I know I kind of already said this is I mean, I feel like you you've got it figured out, you know where you are, you know where you want to go, you know what has to happen to get you there.
And so it's literally digging deep, doing what you can while at the same time also digging into that faith aspect as well, and understanding the realization that God does have a plan for Tabby, that he's there, that he's got you, and that you're never in the fight alone.
Absolutely, you know?
Wow, wow, wow.
Well, well, Tabby, I'm super excited for you.
I'm super excited for this journey that you're on.
So I would like to end with asking you, what is your next step?
What is one thing that when we get off this call today, you can commit to yourself to begin or complete?
What is what is something that that that you can take action on?
SPEAKER_03: Oh, for sure.
Work on my physicality.
I got some exercises that I need to be doing instead of sitting on the hoof.
SPEAKER_00: Yep.
Yeah.
Well, well, that's great.
Well, and I mean, what a perfect opportunity.
Here we are, the start of a new year.
You have a whole life ahead of you.
And the truth is, though, it's hard.
Sometimes the simplest things are hard to make ourselves do it, but you know that there's a deeper meaning and purpose behind it to drive you forward, to get you doing those exercises.
I see an amazing year ahead for you.
And I'm just thrilled to have you here today on this coaching call, helping you map out this roadmap.
And uh, I'm excited to see how it goes.
SPEAKER_03: Well, thank you, Kevin.
I really appreciate you doing this because this is something that not only myself, but there's other people out there that could benefit.
From us.
So I'm just excited that you asked me and I accepted because you know sometimes new things can be intimidating and and eventually, like I said, I kind of want to do a podcast myself, but in a different way.
So you know, helping those helping those females out there that have their Jeep that don't have the opportunity to have a home mechanic or somebody to help them with their mechanics or how to drive or how to pick a line, stuff like that.
So I'm hoping to get that moving as well.
So it's been amazing.
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
Well, fantastic.
Well, I'm excited for everything, including the talk of you wanting to do a podcast.
Obviously, I'm a big fan of them.
So I think that sounds absolutely awesome.
Would you love to shout out your Jeep Club?
Is there anybody we would love to give a shout-out to before we wrap up today?
SPEAKER_03: Oh goodness.
Where shall I start?
No, just kidding.
Um let's see.
Ladies Off-Road Network.
I have learned so much from the Ladies Off-Road Network.
They're based out of Phoenix, Arizona.
So shout out to my Ladies Off-Road Network members.
Also to my Dirty Jeep girls all across the country.
We have a Facebook page, and all new ladies come in and we introduce them into new things too.
So those are my two main Jeep groups.
So hello, ladies.
SPEAKER_00: Well, awesome, awesome.
Well, well, Tabby, again, thank you.
And for you listening today, I want to remind you, you can be in the hot seat just like Tabby, sitting down with me to map out your own life roadmap to get you from where you are today to where you dream of being tomorrow.
Head on over to workwithkevin.coach.
That is workwithkevin.coach.
Link is inside of today's show notes where you can get signed up today.
With that said, this is Grit Grace and Inspiration.
Get out there and take on the day.
Hey, real quick before you go, I have one last thought to leave you with.
I of course hope that you've enjoyed today's episode, but more importantly, I want to remind you that I never want you to listen to an episode of this podcast to hear something that I have to say or that my guest has to share and think, wow, I wish I could be like them.
I wish I could overcome my own challenges and do the great things that they are doing, but I just can't.
Well, friend, that's where you're wrong.
You are capable.
You are able.
And you darn sure are deserving of having all that you can imagine in this life.
There's nothing special about me or any guests I have on this podcast.
We are all just normal people trying to make it in this life.
And so I encourage you to take a look at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself that you know what?
I can do it too.
Now, of course, if you would like help along that way, reach out to me.
Whether that's as a listener of this podcast, a friend, or if you'd like to work with me as a coach.
